Many of you feel confident in knowing how to lose weight. The question is, “Have you been successful at maintaining your weight loss and do you really feel like you have changed your metabolism for the better?” Based on my years of experience working with the general population, the answer to this question more times than not is “no”. Most people are not successful at keeping the weight off and making healthy eating a way of life. I also hear many of you express your concerns about feeling as though your metabolism has slowed down over the years. Yes, infact your metabolism has slowed down and this happens because of all the yo-yo dieting.

There is a simple solution to losing weight the right way and keeping it off. You must speed up your metabolism and turn your body into a fat burning machine. This is accomplished by stabilizing your blood sugar and creating homeostasis (balance).

Diets create deficits through deprivation and restriction- the opposite of balance. These deficits create unstable blood sugar levels and trigger low blood sugar responses. Low blood-sugar causes your body to go into a panic state in which it begins consuming amino acids (muscle) and converting it into the glucose (sugar) it needs to supply your body with energy (ATP). It does not stop there, in order to make up for the deficits, your body literally eats itself by also consuming bone, cells and cell membranes. In other words, it will take from the inside to get what it needs. This is why you have cravings and are susceptible to gaining weight back so easily because your body tries desperately to rebuild and make up for the losses. Even more seriously, after years of this type of self-cannibalism, your body first experiences various symptoms then eventually, often times, crosses the line into a serious condition.

Nutrition should be used to create internal balance. This is what separates maintaining stable blood sugar from dieting. When nutrition is used to create balance, the body is in homeostasis and will release whatever it does not need such as stored body fat, toxins and excess sodium. This state of homeostasis will also create a positive growth state in the body which promotes cell reproduction, energy, focus, sleep, stress management and increased muscle (where fat is burned).

On a personal note, I was also a victim of yo-yo dieting for many years and it wasn’t until I opened up to this more evolved approach to nutrition that I was able to finally be successful at maintaining my weight. I have maintained a 60 pound weight loss for many years now and my metabolism has increased to such a degree that I have to eat a lot in order to maintain my weight.

In a two hour nutrition consultation, I am able to educate you on how to accomplish blood sugar stabilization and homeostasis by teaching you how to combine specific food groups, with the right ratios (per your goals and activity levels) and in the right intervals. We then custom build and design a menu plan that is meant for your schedule and lifestyle. I share many different meal and snack ideas and help you create a final grocery shopping list.

My clients express how they feel like they are finally being led in the right direction and they are all amazed at how much food they are able to eat and how the weight drops off so effortlessly. Even beyond the weight loss, they celebrate how much energy they have and how their cravings begin to lessen. Inflammation leaves their body and as a result, aches and pains disappear. Now that the inflammation is gone, they discover their bodies are more flexible and agile than they thought. They feel young again and realize that at 40+ they can feel like they are in their 20’s.

When you begin eating this way for life, there won’t be any more New Year’s resolutions for weight loss or crash dieting two months before summer to feel bikini worthy. Instead you will be putting on your bikini and going down to the beach on Christmas Day (that was how I spent my Christmas and it was such a freedom).

Now is the time to put an end to the yo-yo dieting, heal your metabolism, slow down the aging process and feel empowered.

I offer a FREE orientation and health assessment to all existing members, new members, as well as, non- members so please feel free to share my contact information with your family and friends.

Wishing You All Health and Blessings,

Exercise Tips for Women

We all know that as well as following a healthy balanced diet, exercise is vital if we are to enjoy well-being and steady weight loss. However, how are we supposed to know what exercises we should be doing in order to get the best results for us as individuals?

The important thing to remember is that every woman’s body is different. We each have different physical abilities, our fitness goals are not the same, and our metabolisms all work at different speeds. Therefore, it would be stupid to think that one standard exercise program would suit every single woman that comes to the gym.
Someone that wants to lose as much fat as possible may be better to focus on a cardiovascular based program, whereas a lady looking to strengthen and tone may be better using weight machines in order to achieve her goal. What about those who suffer from back problems? What exercise program should they follow? Who is Yoga suited for, and why might it suit you better than Pilates?
As you can see there are so many different options, knowing what’s right for you can be a challenge. Luckily there are a few ways you can get the information you need in order to craft a workout routine, perfect for your physical abilities and goals. Let’s take a look at your options.
Read A Book- There are many good books out there offering solid advice about weight loss and exercise programs just for women. Many will come with pictures or diagrams showing you how to perform each exercise or movement. The advantage of a fitness book is that they are fairly inexpensive, and most cover a wide range of routines suitable for different body types and abilities.

The downside of these books is that they don’t cater for individual needs, and much of the advice offered is pretty general. If you have never done any exercise before a book will give you a basic understanding of how an exercise program works. Get A DVD- It seems that everyone and their dog has brought out some sort of exercise and fitness DVD these days, but some of them are fairly good. The advantage of using a DVD program is that you can see each exercise performed in front of your eyes so you can clearly see what you should be doing with your body.

The only problem with following a DVD fitness program is that once again they are very general and won’t cater for your individual fitness needs. The other thing you won’t get from a DVD is feedback on how you are doing, or the motivation you may need when you begin to tire.

A Personal Trainer- The beauty of having a personal trainer is that everything is one to one and designed for you and you alone. A trainer will sit down with you and discuss your health and fitness goals, before beginning to craft a nutrition and exercise plan tailored to help you reach your goals quickly and effectively.

They will also discuss any physical problems you may have, and will ensure you never try to perform an exercise which may injure you further. More importantly they will give you live feedback on your progress, in addition to providing you with that much needed motivation along the way.

Many people who reach their fitness goals, and now enjoy slimmer, healthier, and happier lives have all achieved their goals with the help of a personal trainer. It is probably the best solution in finding the best exercise system for you.

Fitness Elite for Women is proud to have some of the best professionally trained and certified personal trainers in the business, who will work with you one on one until you have reached every one of your health and fitness goals.
Nutritional Tips for Women If we believed everything we read in the papers then none of us would really know [...]

Nutritional Tips for Women

If we believed everything we read in the papers then none of us would really know what we should eat. One day something is bad for our health, and the next day a new study reveals that it will actually cure us of all diseases.

What’s important to remember is why we need to eat in the first place. Food is there to provide us with the nutrition our bodies need to function. So what about the nutritional needs of women? What should we be focusing on, and are our requirements any different to the boys?

The Importance Of Iron
Due to our monthly cycle (grrrr) Iron is very important in a woman’s diet. In order to avoid iron deficiency-anemia we should be sure to include plenty of shellfish, beans, liver, and a little red meat in our diets. Especially as it approaches “that time of the month!” In fact if you become pregnant your iron requirement will increase even further.

Take Plenty Of Greens
Remember when your Mom kept on at you about not eating enough greens? Well she had a point! Greens are a vital part of any good nutritional plan, and play a huge role in our general health and well-being. They are also great if you are trying to lose weight.

Spinach, Kale, Pak Choi, Broccoli, Asparagus, Cabbage, and Green beans are loaded with important vitamins A and C. They also provide a rich source of fibre and help you to stay fuller for longer. A great way to deal with those hunger pangs that strike in the middle of the day!

Although the experts suggest you have at least 5 portions of vegetables a day, in certain parts of the world they suggest 10 portions plus.

Don’t Miss Breakfast!
You’ve heard this before a hundred times I know, but it’s that important you’re going to hear it again!

Missing breakfast is just about the worst thing you can do, especially if you are trying to lose weight. When you miss a meal your body will go into what’s known as “Starvation mode”. When you go long periods without eating your body assumes there is a famine on the horizon so it begins to store fat in order to keep you going.

It also slows your metabolism, which means you burn calories at a much slower pace. Another mistake that will see you pile on the pounds! On top of all that don’t forget that without breakfast you won’t have the energy to get through the day.

Keep Hydrated
Keeping your body properly hydrated is probably the most important nutritional tip you can follow, yet many of us don’t. When your body becomes even marginally

dehydrated the symptoms can be very obvious and acute. You will rapidly lose focus and concentration; you may also begin to feel very tired and lethargic. In a situation where you let yourself become very dehydrated you will probably start to feel very unwell.

The other reason you should stay as hydrated as possible is that often our body mistakes the feeling of thirst for the feeling of hunger. You may find that when you feel hungry, simply drinking a glass or two of water will be enough to satisfy you until your next
meal.
Fitness Elite For Women can help you construct a balanced and healthy nutritional plan that will give your body the vitamins and minerals it needs to get you through the day, but will also be tailored to help you achieve any weight loss goals you may have.
